PROCLAMATION NO. 1462
DECLARING FEBRUARY 25, 2008 (MONDAY) AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY FOR THE OBSERVANCE OF THE 22ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE EDSA PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION
WHEREAS, this year marks the 22nd anniversary of the ESDA People Power revolution with the theme "KAPAYAPAAN AT PAGKAKAISA TUNGO SA KAUNLARAN!";
WHEREAS, the historic event, which restored and ushered political, social and economic reforms in the country, serves as inspiration to the Filipinos everywhere as we continue to chart our collective course as a nation and as a people;
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the entire Filipino nation be given the opportunity to observe this milestone in our country's history;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in my by law, do hereby declare Febuary 25, 2008 (Monday) as a special (non-working) day throughout the country.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

That was last year. I guess it's no longer fitting to observe such milestone in Philippine history, especially when the next similar milestone could cause your downfall, right Gloria?

If you don't pass along EDSA and you don't realize the cause of today's horrendous traffic, would you have remembered? In fairness to Gloria, our forgetting of the spirit of EDSA wasn't her fault. We just forgot about it, didn't we?

Is the spirit of EDSA still with us? I don't feel it anymore. I don't know why.

I don't remember the date but I remember the spirit. I just remember but don't "see" or "feel" it.

yup, i remember getting my hands on this proclamation last year. kainis, may pasok this taym.

for all their grandeur and whatever worth they may have, all edsas have come to naught. quite a disturbing thought, and one that we should ask before we take to the streets again.
